No matter the assignment, David strives to create simple and powerful interventions that respond to the identity and logic of the location. David specializes in creating complex public spaces and landscape architecture transformation plans, and his award-winning work includes the PPS Rijkskantoor De Knoop project in Utrecht and the urban transformation of Clichy-en-Seine, Grand Paris in France. David was also one of the finalists in the Kinderdijk World Heritage design competition. As a partner and designer at karres+brands, David works on both rural and urban assignments, including the design for Nærheden ‘the suburb of the future’ near Copenhagen, the design for the Rondje Weerwater circuit in Almere and Moscow open spaces project.

He also contributed to various points of elaboration for the image quality plan of the Groene Singel, an integrated vision for liveability, slow mobility and design in the area around the Antwerp Ring. Currently, he is working on the Hart van Zuid area development project in Rotterdam, a restructuring of more than 150 acres will improve spatial quality, public space, create jobs and provide a better mix of facilities for residents. No matter the assignment, David strives to create simple and powerful interventions that respond to the identity and logic of the location.

In addition to his work at karres+brands, David teaches at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam and lectures at the Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, HKU University of the Arts Utrecht and Erasmus University College Brussels. He regularly gives lectures related to his work in the field of landscape architecture and design.
